The Christmas Countdown

Is it just us, or have the last few months flown by? What with all the new product launches and show preparations, we’ve barely had time to stop since the summer.

In any case, we’ve got a few news updates to share with you before we all get stuck into some Turkey this coming weekend…

You may well have seen on the website the all-new Color Confidence Studio Photo and Studio View, replacing the Color Confidence Studio XR2 Colour Management kit. The Studio Photo offers an all-in-one solution to colour verify your workflow, and the Studio View offers complete on-screen viewing accuracy. So if you’re after monitor calibration and an accurate colour managed workflow, these are the solutions for you.

A few weeks ago we introduced Cruxcase to you, which is the world’s first clamshell-keyboard case specially designed for iPad2 (You can read our blog entry here). Well, we’re pleased to announce that as a special festive treat, the Crux360 Gamma is now only £99 – meaning you can get the best out of your iPad for less. It’s the ideal accompaniment to go with that iPad2 currently sitting under the tree.

onOne Software – The Perfect Photo Suite

Over the past few weeks we’ve blogged about the range of photo editing solutions from onOne Software, including the brand new solutions and recent releases. You can read about the individual elements below:

All work within PhotoShop, Lightroom and Aperture, or as a standalone application, giving you image editing precision and customisation that works best for you with ease.

And the best bit is, you can get all these solutions as part of the onOne Perfect Photo Suite 6 package. So rather than having to buy each individually, you can get them altogether in one package, saving yourself a few pounds too.

This means that you can retouch portraits, create layered images, customise photographic effects, edit backgrounds and resize images in one box.

You can learn more about onOne Perfect Photo Suite 6 by watching the below video, or by visiting our webpage here.

Also, if you purchased onOne Perfect Photo Suite 5.5 (the predecessor to Perfect Photo Suite 6) on or after the 7th August 2011, you can upgrade to Perfect Photo Suite 6 for free.

Give Your Images Some Focus

Like Perfect Resize 7 and PhotoFrame 4.6 as discussed in previous blogs, onOne FocaPoint 2 has been available since late October, and, is also included in the new onOne Photo Suite 6 package.

So what is FocalPoint 2?

onOne FocalPoint 2 allows you to control the focus of your image, with depth-of-field and vignette effects to help you show your viewers exactly where to look. Essentially, it’s like bringing your camera lens inside Photoshop, allowing you to add selective focus to images after they have been taken. In a similar way to tilt-shift techniques, FocalPoint 2 uses a ‘Focus Bug’ controller, enabling you to control the amount of blur, focus and light or dark tones in the image.

Features of FocalPoint 2 include:

Multiple Points of Focus

You have the ability to define multiple areas within an image using Focus Bugs, this enables you to create complex blur shapes or highlight multiple areas.

Easy controls

Speaking of Focus Bugs, with FocalPoint 2 the most common functions are placed in a single, easy-to-use control. All you have to do is place the ‘Bug’ over the area you want to blur, then set the size, shape and place using ‘Bug Legs’. Furthermore, you can then choose the scale of the blur by using the ‘Bug Antennae’. All these options are available in one click, in one place.

Bloom, Brightness & Contrast

A new highlight bloom tool lest you control how strong highlights are in the blurred area. There are also brightness and contrast controls available for further enhancements.

Lens Simulator

The blur options available in FocalPoint 2 closely match ‘real’ lens blur for an authentic out-of-focus look. You can closely replicate effects normally only obtainable with expensive, high-desired photographic lenses.

Focus Brush

The focus brush allows you to paint focus or blur exactly where you want it. You can also use the brush to touch-up the shape or Focus Bugs, or blurred areas in your images.

Vignettes

Vignettes have long been used to reduce distractions and focus the viewer’s eye. FocalPoint 2 includes an improved vignette feature for a more natural, edge-only appearance.

Standalone Application

As with the onOne solutions, FocalPoint 2 is available integrated into Photoshop, Aperture or Lightroom, or as a standalone option.

onOne FocalPoint 2 is available to order now. You can learn more about it in the below video:

Darkroom effects with PhotoFrame 4.6

Last week we took a closer look at onOne Perfect Resize 7.

This week, we delve into onOne PhotoFrame 4.6 – the design elements package for images and album creation.

With the digital age of photography well and truly set, it can be easy to lose the apparant charm and ‘authenticness’ of the traditional darkroom studio.

onOne PhotoFrame 4.6 has been created to add a darkroom touch to images, helping you create albums or scrapbook pages with a traditional feel to your images. It also gives you an array of tools so you can find the design element that’s right for you, controlling details like size, colour and opacity.

So what do you get in PhotoFrame 4.6?

Complete Library of design Elements

We briefly touched on darkroom effects above, and with PhotoFrame 4.6, it’s easy to add authentic film and darkroom effects to your images. Using an extensive library of elements, you can edit frames, backgrounds, edges and textures. The preview window helps you find the effect you’re after, allowing you a sneak peek before you apply the effect.

There is a vast selection of film edges and effects to give your image the finishing touch.

Design Collections

PhotoFrame 4.6 includes new layout design elements to help you create albums. From fresh and bright designs perfect for children and family layouts, to the event collection perfect for special occasions.

Albums with style

You can quickly create full-page album layouts for yourself or clients. Starting with a blank canvas, you can add backgrounds, resize and reposition images, and add frame and styling to your layouts. PhotoFrame 4.6 makes it easy to do this with rulers and guides, allowing you to save any created albums as presets for next time. All this means you can create unique album styles quickly.

And, like the other new solutions from onOne Software, PhotoFrame 4.6 works as a standalone application, or integrated into Photoshop, Lightroom or Aperture. This means you can use it however works best for you.

onOne PhotoFrame 4.6 is available now. You can learn more about it in the below video:
