Palette introduce the Farrow & Ball colour library to the Cube colour capture device

Palette, creators of the Cube portable colour digitiser, have today announced that they have upgraded Cube by introducing the Farrow & Ball colour library to the device.

Cube is a hand-held device that, with a simple tap, allows creative professionals to digitally capture colour and match it to a variety of paint & colour libraries, through connected smartphone and desktop apps.

Cube picks up the desired hue in a controlled sequence and records the raw colour values for future reference. The innovative device matches to multiple libraries such as RAL, Crown Paints and now includes Farrow & Ball’s 132 unmatched paint colours.

Those that already own the Cube device can access the new library by simply updating the Cube Companion App.

Cube key features:

  • Cube fits in your hand and with one tap captures any colour on any surface
  • Digitally match colours to thousands of built-in colours, including PANTONE, RAL, Farrow & Ball, Crown Paints, British Standard Colour and COPIC
  • Cube links in real time with Photoshop allowing users to match colours to a host of over 7,500 digital colour profiles
  • Classify colours in your favourite colour spaces – RGB, LRV, HEX, CMYK, LAB
  • Connect Cube to clever iOS and Android phones to store, tag and share your colours with the Cube Companion App
  • Connect Cube to Mac and Windows computers to colour grade photos using Cube Link.

Farrow & Ball, British craftsmen in paint and paper, celebrated their 70th anniversary earlier this year. The manufacturer has 55 showrooms worldwide and a global network of stockists covering 67 markets. The paint colours are made using high levels of rich pigments to original recipes and the wallpapers are handcrafted using Farrow & Ball’s own paints and traditional printing methods.

Cube is priced at £149.95 incl. VAT.

Introducing the new FlatHat™ Portable Drone Pads and Drone Pad Lighting Kits

InitialProductLine-1500xExpoImaging, creators of the new FlatHat brand of lighting gear for drone pilots, has today announced availability of two new portable drone pads and new drone pad lighting kits. The new kit will be showcased at Photokina, in Germany later this month.

The new patent-pending FlatHat 32” (80 cm) Collapsible Drone Pad is made out of durable, heavy-duty fabric, mounted to a flexible spring steel frame. Weighing just 500g, the 32” drone pad collapses to a third of its expanded size. It also comes with a handy travel bag that fits easily into a backpack or laptop sleeve.

The 32” size is perfect for mid-sized consumer drones like the Typhoon 4K, DJI Phantom series, the DJI Inspire, the 3DR Solo, the Parrot Bebop and other similarly sized drones. The drone pad’s bold landing pattern provides an easy-to-see target, and the pad can act as a designated ‘return-home’ location for drones with that capability. Three aluminium ground stakes are included with the 32” FlatHat Collapsible Drone Pad. They can be used to help secure the drone pad in windy conditions.

A new FlatHat 16” (40cm) Collapsible Drone Pad has been designed for mini and nano size drones. Made from the same durable fabric as the larger drone pad, and weighing just 100g, the 16” Drone Pad folds-flat and comes with a 6” diameter travel bag. The bold pattern also provides a high visibility landing target and better visibility for smaller, hard to see drones on the ground.

Ice Blue and Gamma Green FlatHat Lighting Kits are also available for the FlatHat 32” and 16” Collapsible Drone Pads. These colourful new lighting kits give drone pilots better visibility in low-light flying conditions. The flexible light wire is cool to the touch and water resistant. The kit includes a 4-way light controller (off/constant/pulse/strobe) and is powered by 2 AA batteries (batteries not included).

The new FlatHat drone pads and drone pad lighting kits will feature at Photokina, the world’s leading trade fair for photo and video, later this month (20-25 September). To celebrate the launch, ExpoImaging will be offering visitors the chance to win a fantastic drone kit; including the state-of-the-art Typhoon 4K Drone, a collapsible 32” FlatHat drone landing pad, and lights (worth approx. £1,000). To enter the competition, visitors can simply complete the entry form in Hall 4.1, Stand J029.

August Inspired by Colour photo competition winner announced

Thank you to everyone that took part in the ‪’Inspired by Colour’ photo competition last month. We are pleased to reveal that our August winner is Nick Price with his captivating self-portrait image ‘Through The Lense – A Photographers Life’.

August winner

Nick’s winning image ‘Through The Lense – A Photographers Life’.

Nick is now the proud owner of a selection of TECCO high quality inkjet papers worth £109!

Nick commented:

The photo was shot on my Sony A6000 with a 50mm F1.8 lens, Yongnuo yn560 flash gun and trigger. Port processing was using Adobe Lightroom.

I took up photography in March and have been working hard at it since, primarily shooting models and to narrow it down further, mostly portraits. I have been lucky enough to be published in several magazines in that time (I got lucky lol). This is my first competition win and I am very happy to have won it, taking the picture although somewhat frustrating. Particularly focus in low light against a mirror was also rewarding and allowed me to look at some things for the future I may not have otherwise considered particularly using mirrors.

Enter our September photo competition for your chance to win a Rogue FlashBender 2 Portable Lughting Kit worth over £150.
